This template is meant to describe the purpose of a category. As such, it should be placed only in category pages.
Parameters (the numbers refer to the positions of the parameters):
- 1
- Description of the purpose of the category (required).
- 2
- Instructions on how to put a page in this category (optional: by default, the instruction is to add the category at the bottom of the page).
- auto
- Explanations on how the page is automatically put in this category, when it should not be intentionally done by contributors (e.g. categories about obsolete template parameters, missing template parameters, etc.)
For example, this code:
{{Category|pages tagged for speedy (≈ immediate) deletion|use the template {{tl|Speedy delete}}}}
...produces the following result:
This category is about pages tagged for speedy (≈ immediate) deletion.
To add a page to this category, use the template {{Speedy delete}}.
